Construction of the factory was implemented according to the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan №12548 from September, 14th, 2012 “On construction building of the pharmaceutical factories at the Ministry of Health and the medical industry of Turkmenistan”.
Sunny Turkmenistan is very rich with natural resources. Among them there is a lot of it used in light and heavy industry as raw materials, for the medical purposes, etc. In Balkan welayat there are very big resources of iodine and its compounds which are a matter of a great big interest all over the world. Iodine is used in various industries as well as for medical industry. 5 % spirit iodine solution is widely used in medicine for a long time. Recently, other types of iodine compounds with medical properties are received. For example, compound of iodine with polyvinylpirrolidone is produced in different forms and used as an antiseptic. An objective of the factory construction is supply to the iodine products to the population.

The factory consists of 5 units: water preparation unit, Unit of manufacture of iodic sticks, Unit of manufacture of iodic pencils, Unit of manufacture of stomatologic tampons and quality control Unit. Water preparation unit
In this section a unit of the return osmosis “Housing” is operating which is provided by Italian company Aqualine. The unit is capable to produce 500 litres of the fresh water per 1 hour. Water used for production corresponds to the European standards. The fresh water in aseptic environment automatically is transported to a special tank of a capacity 3 000 liters.
In the reactor of 2 000 liters capacity 500 liters of the fresh water is mixed with 18 kg of monohydrate of lemon acid, 27,2 kg disodium hydrogen phosphate, then 200 kg of povidoniodine is added and mixed till full dissolution. After reception of a homogeneous solution the volume of a solution is added by water up to 2 000 litres. Then the finished goods through the filter are pumped in a special reactor of 2 000 litres capacity. In quality control unit it is checked for pH value correspondence to the project requirements. If this indicator is within 4,5-5,5 range then the product is transported to department of packing and iodic sticks are made. The finished goods are packed into an aluminum foil, and then are cut by 10 pieces and 50 pieces are packed into cardboard boxes. The finished goods are transported to a warehouse and are ready for sail.
Polypropylene sticks used in this unit are made of Turkmen polypropylene on special unit. Capacity of the equipment is 250 million sticks a year. The wadded tampon is made of Turkmen cotton. The industrial equipment of department is made in Germany by company Arburg. Capacity of the equipment is 53 000 sticks in one hour.
In a reactor of 2 000 liters capacity 500 liters of the fresh water is mixed with 970 liters of 96 %-s’ ethyl ephyr, 55,44 kg iodide sodium, 100 kg of Turkmen iodine and is well mixed till reception of a homogeneous solution. Then the volume of a solution is added by water up to 2 000 liters. After that the finished goods through the filter are pumped in a special reactor of 2 000 liters capacity. In quality control unit a content of iodine in the received solution is checked. If this parameter is equal to 5 % the product goes to department of packing and iodic pencils are made. On finished goods labels are pasted, then pencils are packed into cardboard boxes and transported in a warehouse. Polypropylene pencils used in department, are made of Turkmen polypropylene on special unit. Capacity of the equipment is 50 million pencils in one year. The industrial equipment of department is made in Germany by company Arburg. Capacity of the equipment is 10 500 pencils in one hour.
The Turkmen cotton is cleaned on special unit, it is combed over there, after it is transported to the unit of manufacturing of tampons. On this installation wadded tampons are made and on 50 pieces are wrapped up in a nylon film. The tampons wrapped up in a nylon film are cut by length 4 cm. The ready goods see are packed into cardboard boxes and transported to a warehouse. Capacity of the equipment is 45 000 tampons in one hour.
In this unit the pH-metre, a water composition determinant, refract meter, refract meter densitometer and other analytical devices are installed. Here according to modern requirements qualitative and quantitative analyses of the water used in manufacture, and also finished goods are carried out.
